Rooster Logic aims to increase transparency and evidence based decision making in Nepal based on real time data sources and analytics. It has a three pronged approach to tackle this problem - a digital data collection and analytics tool ‘REMO’, a human network of female data collectors ‘Sukarmi’ and its research arm ‘Pramaan’.
Established in 2013, Rooster Logic, an ICT company with focus on database creation and management, research and monitoring, has been involved in 50+ projects with 300,000+ aggregate sample size including Exit Polls: in 2013, local elections May 2017 and general elections Dec 2017. Sukarmi initiative has been the lifeblood of these research endeavours. It plans to expand Sukarmi network throughout Nepal thereby enabling real-time nationwide data collection, aggregation and analysis.
The United Nations talks of a “data revolution” to make developmental efforts more evidence-driven. In reality there is a significant lack of up-to-date and accurate data in Nepal. Traditional practices are common where data is collected by hand, taking months to process and analyse. The effects are widespread, resulting in policies and programs that do not meet the needs of a diverse and rapidly changing population.
