ASER School Survey
Client: Teach for Nepal
Year: 2019
Overview
The Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) is a standardized test used to measure the learning of students. ASER is the biggest annual survey done in India. Teach for Nepal wanted to conduct this survey in Tulsipur and collaborated with Tulsipur Municipality to create a baseline of 27,000 students. The survey aimed to understand the current level of students in terms of education and learning. The outcome from the survey will provide a basis for educational intervention tools for the future.
Methodology
Teach for Nepal partnered with Rooster Logic for the project. We provided the digital tools used for the survey easing the data collection process as the survey dealt with a large amount of data. REMO, an android application on the front, was used for digital data collection. We also worked with the volunteers from Teach for Nepal to test and retest the questionnaire in the field and helped in data management after the collection period.
Through this project, Rooster Logic dealt with a large-scale dataset. We provided our input in data collection and provided technology for faster and more accurate data points. We also advised on the preparation of the questionnaire and the flow of the questionnaire. With our pool of experts and digital technology, we could smoothly plan and execute large-scale data collections. We built a better system cutting down redundancy and saving both time and cost.
