Ward Profiling
Client: Ward 5/Rooster Logic
Year: 2018
Overview
The local government has a lot of autonomy, responsibility, and power. Data plays a crucial role in helping the local government by providing insights to elected representatives to make informed decisions. However, in Ward 5, we found an acute lack of data. Thus, with the participatory approach of the ward, Rooster Logic profiled various parameters of the locality that would help the leaders in policy making and planning. Data will provide a direction to the perception, needs, and priorities of the people.
Methodology
For the process of data collection, the ward was divided into clusters. A group of enumerators worked in each cluster to get detailed data. All the households in the clusters were visited by the enumerators at least three times before marking them as nonresponsive.
Analyzing the data, Rooster Logic was able to provide insights into actionable items to the local government. Data was collected on the seen perception and needs of the people as well as the unseen needs. While the visible information related to that of road, water, and sewage, the unseen situation of the residents of Ward 5 was that most of the people had or were projected to have non-communicable diseases (NCD) resulting from lifestyle. This information led to more open spaces for people to bring about a change in their daily lives. The insights from data also provided for better planning and revenue generation for Ward 5.
